AS5040 is a contact less magnetic rotary encoder for accurately measuring the angle of 360° in the whole amount. This is a system-on-chip, the integration of integrated Hall elements in a single package, the analog front end and digital data signal processing. When measuring the angle, simply equip a bipolar magnet that rotates above the center of the chip. The magnet can be installed above or below the IC. This absolute angle measurement method can indicate the angular position of the magnet instantly, with a resolution of 0.35°, which is 1024 positions per circle. The digitized data can be given in the form of a serial bit stream or PWM signal.
