The APDS-9930 provides an I2C interface-compatible ambient light sensor (ALS) and a proximity sensor with an infrared LED in a single 8-pin package, where the ambient light sensor uses a dual photodiode to approximate 0.01 lux illumination. This module can be used in applications where a motion / human gesture is to be detected from behind a glass from close range uptill 100mm. The proximity sensor is fully calibrated for 100 mm object detection even behind glass, eliminating factory calibration requirements for terminal and sub-assemblies.
