This Permanent Magnet DC Motor with encoder is suitable for small and medium CNC machines and for replacement of stepper motors to DC servos which gives high speed and accuracy. This motor with drive can replace a stepper motor upto NEMA 34 size where high speeds are required. Encoder is 500 Line optical encoder which gives 2000 PPR. Motor runs on 12 to 24VDC and gives 6000 RPM on 24V. This motor may be directly coupled with ball screw linear system with a coupler. Reduction is possible with external timing belt and pulley system.
The Motor is a Industrial grade motor with replacable carbon brushes, hardened shaft and skewed armature for reduction of cogging effect.
The 0.18 degree resolution optical encoder with quadrature outputs for increment and decrement counting. It will give 2000 transitions per rotation between outputs A and B. A quadrature decoder is required to convert the pulses to an up or down count. The Encoder is build to Industrial grade.

Do you have pc keyboard decoder - serial out for directly interface with microcontroller serial without pc means I want to interface microcontroller with 16x2 LCD and ps2 pc keyboard directly.
Service from Robokits is very good. I got the motor shipped to Bangalore within 1 day (to Bangalore).
Motor build quality is good and the encoder is as per specification. But the motor draws 1.15Amps at no load (not 600mA, as mentioned). The reason is that, the motor has lower back emf. In otherwords, the permanent magnet is not that strong on the motor and hence to produce some "x" power, it will consume more current and a similar motor, which has stronger permanent magnet. Hence the rating is "4". Also a slight loading of the motor will cause the current to increase drastically. But good part is that, this motor has higher speed (because of lower flux of permanent magnet).
Overall, I am satisfied.
