The Astro brand Super Smooth High Finish rods are high quality guide rods made from high carbon bearing steel for high smoothness and long life. They are used along with linear bearings in CNC machines, 3d printers and other precision machinery as an accurate way to guide the linear motion in a cost effetive way. The raw material used in making these rods is high carbon bearing steel with a high percentage of chromium. This gives the rods an extra smooth finish and differentiates the Astro rod from the normally rods available in the market. Even though the other make rods look similar at the start, there is high wear and tear if the raw material used is not upto the mark. The high quality Astro make rods made from bearing steel make sure that only high quality material is used in manufacturing alongwith stringent quality checks. The rod can be cut to desired lengths using a grinding disk. A normal hacksaw blade may not work due to the hardness of the rod. The rods are hardened by high freqency quenching process which make material upto a depth of approx 2mm as hard as 60 HRC.
